Two local entrepreneurs here in Milton, ON are playing their part in helping with the relief efforts in Japan following the horrific earthquake that claimed the lives of thousands of people.

The 9.0 earthquake that struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on March 11, 2011 was news that sent shock waves around the world. Shortly after the devastating earthquake, a series of heavy aftershocks struck, and now Japan, like the rest of the world, has a close eye on radiation levels from nuclear power plants that were seriously damaged in the earthquake.

Niraj Adhiya and Rick Majithia, both of whom own Take It And Go (www.takeitandgo.ca (http://www NULL.takeitandgo NULL.ca )) in Milton are helping raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross’ Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami Appeal.

“Japan needs our help,” says Niraj Adhiya, Co-Founder and CEO of Take It And Go (www.takeitandgo.ca (http://www NULL.takeitandgo NULL.ca )). “The news of the earthquake, the lives that it took, and the destruction it caused, has been truly saddening. What we want to do now is what others around the world are doing: help out and make a positive difference.”

Rick Majithia, President and Co-Founder, states, “We just launched our business and when we heard about the Canadian Red Cross’ campaign, we need we had to join in and help out a country that is now in despair. It’s going to take a long time to rebuild the areas affected by the earthquake, but we know that every donation counts to help Japan and its citizens.”

From now (March 31, 2011 to April 15, 2011), anyone who purchases a deal using a $5.00 code (Code# TIAGFO1J), www.takeitandgo.ca (http://www NULL.takeitandgo NULL.ca )will give back another $5.00 to the Canadian Red Cross’ Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami Appeal. Each visitor can use the code as many times as they wish. In all, the more codes punched in, means more money back to the relief efforts.

“We have hundreds of people right now signing up and using our services,” says Adhiya. “So, we know this campaign will attract the attention of many people and in the end everyone will help make a difference.”

Majithia echoes these very words. “It’s been impressive seeing all the different organizations and people around the world stepping up to help out a country in despair. We are proud to play our part in helping the country survive and rebuild.”

The online business based out of Milton offers daily deals at discounted prices. From restaurants to travel deals, the services are endless – all of which allows consumers to save anywhere between 50% to 90% on a variety of deals offered daily via its site. A printed voucher is available after purchase when customers sign into their profile.

The company is also devoting a portion of each deal sold to local groups including hospitals and community sports organizations. As the business grows, more community based organizations will benefit from their “philanthropic-to-do list.”
