Sure it’s only a seed, but it does wonders for your lawn and the environment.

This Thursday, September 22, 2011 homeowners right across the country will learn more about RTF Water Saver Seed grass (http:///www NULL.rtfwatersavercanada NULL.com)seed as the Marilyn Denis Show will feature it as a “Must Have Product” for those seeking to have that lush green they have always desired. (Please check your local listings for time of Marilyn Dennis Show on CTV). Own Reeves, a renowned gardening expert for the popular daytime show, will share the benefits of RTF Water Saver Grass seed with the audience and viewers across the country.

The product was launched Canada-wide just this past spring and already consumers are realizing that when it comes to buying seed, RTF Water Saver grass seed is really the only green solution on the market.

RTF stands for Rhizomatous Tall-Fescue – with a technology unlike traditional seed varieties – namely the R3 Factor (Rhizomes / Repairs / Rapid), and it thrives with less water, less fertilizer, and is pest tolerant (http:///www NULL.rtfwatersavercanada NULL.com).

Ryan Streatch, National Agent and Spokesperson of RTF Water Saver, says his company is elated with going on the Marilyn Dennis Show this Thursday.

“Our appearance on the Marilyn Denis Show will inform thousands of homeowners from coast to coast on the benefits of RTF Water Saver grass seed,” says Streatch.

“We know there is growing trend of busy families and aging citizens for high quality, low maintenance landscapes and less tools available in many provinces. RTF Water Saver grass seed helps achieve this ideal lawn.”

Streatch adds, “The real message we will be conveying is that you can still have a green and healthy lawn without the more traditional use of chemicals. An RTF lawn also helps tremendously with water conservation. RTF Water Saver grass seed is a revolutionary product that aims at helping protect the environment. We all know how important it is to reduce our environmental footprint.”

While there is a long list of companies out there that only dream of having their product featured on the Marilyn Dennis show, Streatch indicates that he is thrilled to have such an opportunity for this kind of national exposure. The timing also could not be any better as Fall is the best time for planting.

“The Marilyn Denis Show obviously sees tremendous value in our new product,” says Streatch. “Going on the show will raise more awareness on this fantastic product and draw attention to how the landscape industry is changing with regulations such as the pesticide ban now a reality in many provinces across Canada.

RTF Water Saver grass seed, and its innovative traits has already grabbed the attention of esteemed researchers, including Dr. Michael Brownbridge., Research Director, Horticultural Production Systems at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre in Ontario.
Dr. Brownbridge is conducting an independent two year evaluation of the new seed.

Pest control starts with a healthy lawn (http:///www NULL.rtfwatersavercanada NULL.com). RTF Water Saver grass seed may have some unique properties that makes it resilient to drought stress and pests,” says Dr. Brownbridge. “These are great characteristics that can really help in light of the pesticide bans in several provinces, and will make a great foundation for sustainable lawns.”

He adds, “Pesticide and water use bans in many parts of the country make this an ideal alternative to traditional lawns of Kentucky Blue grass mixtures. RTF Water Saver seed establishes quickly and insect pests don’t like the bitter taste of the lawn. Dandelions won’t proliferate in its dense self-repairing turf. It’s also a water sipper, staying greener during droughts. These environmentally sustainable properties offer consumers improved value; it is easier and less expensive to maintain.”

As well, for government and commercial applications, it will mean lower maintenance costs because of less watering, fertilizing and repairing. Its ruggedness is perfect for areas that get a lot of foot traffic such as sport fields. It is suitable as a no-mow option for golf courses or highway applications.

DeWayne Diehl, Golf Course Superintendent, Louisville, Kentucky states, “The more we neglect it, the better it looks.”
The scientifically designed and proprietary RTF Water Saver grass premiered nationally at the Landscape Ontario Congress Trade Show. It garnered tremendous response for an eco-friendly and cost effective new grass seed.

There are no selective hecieridbs that can control common Bermudagrass in a hybrid Bermudagrass lawn. A non-selective herbicide like RoundUp is your best control option. Your hybrid Bermudagrass does not produce viable seeds, therefore, it is propagated vegetatively (sod, plugs, stolons). Repairs should be made with like hybrid sod, plugs or stolons. You could verticut an area of your existing lawn and use the stolons from this area to repair the bare areas. Princess 77 is a common Bermudagrass that is propagated with seed and comes closest to the finer balded hybrids. The hybrids generally tolerate lower cutting heights better than the commons. Mowing low may advantage the hybrids, but do not expect this to eradicate the common Bermudagrass from your lawn.
